Manny Pacquiao hilariously rates Tim Tszyu ahead of icon’s ‘crazy’ return to ring at 46

Aussie star Tim Tszyu got the chance to sit down with his boxing hero Manny Pacquiao ahead of the pair sharing the spotlight on a blockbuster Las Vegas card next month.

Tszyu will rematch Sebastian Fundora for the WBC super welterweight world title on July 20 (AEST), with the card to be headlined by the return of 46-year-old Pacquiao, who takes on Mario Barrios for the WBC welterweight title.

Tszyu found it surreal as the pair set down with US boxing great Shawn Porter in an exclusive interview for Main Event.

“He used to be my favourite fighter so to be sitting here, it’s crazy,” Tszyu said.

“I’ve only seen highlights ... he’s OK,” Pacquiao said with a smile when Porter asked what he thought of the Australian’s career.

Tsyzu said it was a “dream come true to be fighting on a Manny Pacquiao card” revealing he was in the audience for the legend’s 2009 win over Miguel Cotto at Vegas MGM Grand, the same venue that will host next month’s event.

Both fighters also spoke about the fact Pacquiao was returning to the ring at 46, becoming just the second fighter to schedule a bout after being inducted into boxing’s Hall of Fame.

“In terms of concerns ... I know if there’s something wrong with me, my preparation or I can’t move, become slower ... then I don’t want to accept the fight,” Pacquaio said.

“Boxng is hard. But I know I still have the fire. I still have that speed, power and the drive to work hard. I’m enjoying training hard.”

Tszyu added: “I think 46 is a crazy age to be coming back but and not just for a normal fight but fighting for a world title.

“... But Manny knows himself and knows his body and what he’s gone through. If there’s anyone that can do it, it’s this guy.”
